Early Contractor Involvement

The N8 Cashel to Mitchelstown Road Improvement Scheme is the first scheme to adopt this type of contract procurement. Under the ECI form of contract the contractor is involved at an early stage in the development of the design. Unlike design and build contracts, this allows the designer and contractor to get involved prior to the landtake of the scheme being fixed to maximise the benefits of buildability input, value for money, design innovation and risk management to produce a win-win outcome. PH McCarthy's responsibilities on this scheme include preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement, the Preliminary Design, Detailed Design and Construction Monitoring.
