Dublin Bay Project

PH McCarthy has successfully project managed the preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement covering the various elements of the Dublin Bay Project which included a wastewater treatment works treating effluent from the majority of Dublin City (1.7 million P.E.), a submarine pipeline across Dublin Bay and a raw sewage pumping station on the sea shore at Sutton. Dublin Bay is a designated Special Area of Conservation, a special Protection Area and a proposed Natural Heritage Area. The assessment of the impact of the Wastewater Treatment Plant presented specific challenges. As the plant was to be developed on the basis of a Design, Build and Operate contract, no specific design was available at the EIS stage and innovative solutions had to be developed to identify the impact and propose mitigation measures.
