River Boyne

PH McCarthy carried out an environmental assessment on behalf of Meath County Council of the potential impact of abstracting 44,000 cubic metres of water from the River Boyne up stream of Navan Town to provide a potable water supply to the populations of Navan and Mid Meath. The River Boyne is a designated Special Area of Conservation and is salmonid water. An Environmental Impact Report was prepared following the format of a statutory EIS to accompany the application to An Bord Pleanala for a Water Abstraction Order. The Board granted the Order in 2002 following an oral hearing.
