Kilminchy Housing, Portlaoise
This major development consists of over 1,000 houses, a hotel, retirement home and local shopping centre. The works carried out include the design of a surface water drainage system including storm retention and attenuation ponds incorporating the measures advocated by the Scottish EPA for qualitative and quantitative controls on river flows. The final design includes two ponds linked in series on the line of an existing stream with flow controls limiting peak flows to pre-development levels. Road design included all internal roads and a major junction with the N7. Foul drainage design includes both gravity and pumped sections.
