Galway Main Drainage Wastewater Treatment Works

The Galway city wastewater treatment plant, located on Mutton Island, has been designed to meet the requirements of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive. PH McCarthy was responsible for all Master Planning, EIS, Design and Project Management of the project.

The Scheme comprised four distinct contracts as follows: Contract 1 - Causeway construction from the foreshore to the island, Contract 2 - Site Investigation, Contract 3 - Wastewater Treatment Plant - Civil Works, Contract 4 - Wastewater Treatment Plant - Mechanical & Electrical Works.

The works was designed for a population equivalent of 91,600.
